Historical Female Italian Clubs

Valeria Valenziano poses in her camper with her newly-made dress before the dance marathon of 1800's Victorian dances on the Gianicolo terrance in Rome on April 22, 2018 begins organized by the groups "Belle époque" and the "Academy of Victoria Dance" lead by dance instructor Vittorio Viscardi.

"I bought this old bed covers and decided to make a dress out of it," she said. "It's a bit heavy, but I love the color and it's authentic 1800's."

Valenziano is the founder and the prime member of the group "In the World of Jane Austen," another historical female Italian club.

"I do it for passion, not as an evasion," she said. "I now speak only 'ebayase' or the language of eBay, for I am often searching for a new idea for a dress or a hat or a new ancient umbrella to buy."

She has now put her eyes on a very expensive piece of jewelry she can absolutely not afford, but "it's a game, we don't always win, but we like to play, invent and create."

She has been dressing-up with clothing that date back from 1817 to 1920's for about four years. She finds the fashion plates on the Internet and she tries to recreate them as close as she can to the historical periods.

"Nothing is original, but it's all hand-made," she said.
