Historical Female Italian Clubs

She is an "outsider" to the group for she is obsessed with Charlotte Brontë and and not Jane Austen, but, despite the antipathy the two female writers had for one another, the women of the group here, let Di Martino come and play with them, "although her clothing never match ours."

Di Martino stated reading Brontë when she was a teen because she had anoressia problems and found comfort in the words of the English writer, such as Jane Eyre.

She took example from this noble woman whose self-realization is one of her many achievements in the society of those times. "It made me feel stronger and capable of anything," said De Martino.
