daughters of the king
on-going project.
I am 27 and I am not married. I would never wear a wig even if I did get married. I do not live by The Bible’s teachings. I do drive a car on Shabbat. But I have Spanish, Jewish blood running through my veins and a certain curiosity in knowing more about the religious side of my faith. I am particularly interested in revealing that righteous women are not inferior women.
In this project, I am interested in using my camera to tell the stories of women within the community who have opened the doors of their homes and their shops for me to see that wearing a wig and a skirt because your body is your property to be shared and enjoyed only by your (future) husband within a Marriage, is a choice made out of love and respect and not a demeaning status quo.
I am fascinated with depicting what orthodox Jewish women of today have in common with the four mothers of Israel: entrepreneurial strength, emancipation and ability to raise a family within the most strict traditions.
